Richard Nicholas Benjamin (1946–2025)

Richard Nicholas Benjamin, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away on October 4, 2025 at the Highland Nursing Home in Middletown, New York. He was 78.

Born on November 3, 1946 in New York, New York, Richard was the son of Lucius Heads and Vida Benjamin. He spent his childhood and part of his adult life in New York City before moving to Orange County for a more peaceful life. He worked for many years at the Orange County Community College where he also earned his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts.

Richard was an active member of, and eventually became a Deacon at the Second Baptist Church in Middletown, where he was greatly loved.

Richard married Adele in 1997 and they have two beautiful daughters, Racquel and Alexys.

He is survived by his wife, Adele James-Benjamin, daughters Racquel and Alexys Benjamin, his sisters Marcia and Karen Benjamin, his brother Lucius Heads, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held at Meléndez Funeral Home, 30 Grove Street, Middletown, NY 10940 on October 9, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service to celebrate his life was held on Friday, October 10 at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church, 125 North Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
