Evelyn May Reed (1933–2025)

Evelyn May Reed passed from this life Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in Middletown, NY. She was 92 years old, born March 4, 1933 in Kearny, NJ to James Reed and Frances Rutzler.

Evelyn was an avid swimmer in her youth. Growing up, she developed a great love for music and dance and became a gifted pianist. She worked as a secretary in the Picatinny Arsenal following high school, where she met her husband, Leonard H. Riker, and they settled in Milton, NJ. She was a loving wife and a nurturing mother. She is survived by three children, Michael Riker, Linda Riker-Romero and Keith Riker, as well as two grandchildren, Corey Riker and Alyssa Riker, and one great-granddaughter, Paige Riker. Evelyn was known to be a kind, compassionate and genuine person with an indomitable spirit. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

The funeral was held at Meléndez Funeral Home, 30 Grove Street, Middletown, NY 10940 from 1:00–4:00 PM on Saturday, September 6, with a prayer service at approximately 2:00 PM.
