David Howard Johnstone (1971–2025)

It is with a heavy heart that the family of David Howard Johnstone announces his sudden passing on April 2, 2025.

David was born on October 7, 1971, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Mary E. Johnstone and the late David F. Johnstone. David, or "Dave" as he was known to family and friends, was the second of three siblings. The family later moved to New York, where David went to school and learned his life's trade as a talented auto and forklift mechanic.

Despite moving to New York at a young age, David remained a loyal Boston sports fan. He loved movies, skiing, snowboarding, and riding his motorcycle. Dave was quick to crack a joke, and he had a contagious laugh. He was a loyal person to those he cared for and was always willing to step in and help when needed.

He leaves behind his mother, Mary, sister Kimberly, brother Brian, brother-in-law Matthew, sister-in-law Anna, niece Victoria, nephews Nicholas and Christopher, great-nephew Declan, great-niece Birdie, along with many of his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dave was a stalwart and devoted friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family received friends at Meléndez Funeral Home, 30 Grove Street, Middletown, NY 10940, on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, where a memorial service was held.

In lieu of flowers, donations in David's name can be made to the American Diabetes Association or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
